Re: ROLL CALL ( LURKERS TOO!!!!!!! )
Hello Rob I too am having great trouble finding a sling that I can use. When I am at the gym or running I tie my arm to my Weight belt. I would be very interested in it. Even if I could get to know what it was like I may be able to make it myself. Thanks Derek

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: January 1980 Yamaha RD200 vs 16 wheeler truck, result, 1 totally paralysed right arm. I was 21, now 54. I had no surgery, I don't regret this. Decided to totally ignore limitations (easily done aged 21) adapted very quickly to one handed life, got married, had 3 kids, worked- the effect of the injury on my life (once the pain stopped being constant) was minimal and now, aged 54, I very rarely even think of it, unless I bash it or it gets cold, then I wish I'd had it amputated :) Except for a steering knob on my car, I have no adaptations to help with life, mainly because I honestly don't think of myself as disabled and the only thing I can't do is peel potatoes, which is definitely a good thing.
numbers crunched again
Crunched them numbers again, of the 53 tbpi who posted in this thread (there are about another ten who posted elsewhere but not in this thread, so I didn't count them)the figures break down

1 from Jordan
1 from Italy

1 from South Africa
and 7 did not give a location. I know the feeling guys.
Only 32 said whether left or right arm was affected, of those, 17 had ltbpi, 14 had rtbpi and one had bilateral involvement.
The longest tbpi who posted was Bill with 48 years tbpi, he probably also qualifies as the youngest to get his bpi, aged 6.
Interesting stuff....who'd have thought one of the 2nd highest causes would be surgery/medics....I see 2 more iatropathic bpi have posted on the boards since then. Who'd have thought that more than half the posters were from outside the USA? Who'd have thought anyone could be bored enough to work all this out? :0)
Anyway, keep em coming......I know there are more of you out there....
ps Karlos, you owe Liz a Rubix cube as 100th poster..

Re: ROLL CALL ( LURKERS TOO!!!!!!! )
Hi Folks,
I've been off and on (computer modem fried recently...)
My partner Kevin is right tbpi, motorcycle accident August 11, 2001. Kevin has been helped tremendously by this forum (though yet to post; hard to type--other arm
not fully functional). Me too. Surgery is imminent.
We'll keep you posted. Thank you all for support.
All the best,
Mary
