that's probably why Maia is not in Bailey's kind of slint -Maia cannot supinate. The 90/90 splint keeps the arm in neutral.

Static - splint that does not move

Dynamic - splint that moves either by putting pressure into a joint or by being able to change the angle

Maia's splint is a static splint - it does not move.

Thanks Francine!!! Now I understand. Did Dr. Nath say if this surgery might help Maia with supination. He told us that he thought it would help Bailey with her supination.

yes he did say that it might help with supination but quite frankly I'd be very surprised if it did. (before surgery) when I held Maia's elbow immobilized, I could not range her to supination. If you hold your elbow into your body with your other arm - you can still supinate right? Maia could not. So in my mind - capsulodesis was to help her dislocation but I quite frankly didn't think it would help supination. Maybe we'll get a nice surprise? One never knows!
