I also think the topic might be a little to "hot" for her to handle. I'm sure with the beef lawsuit awhile back, she's probably going to be a bit more careful with any issues that may be defamatory/slanderous to a group of powerful lobbyists. Since a lot of these injuries could have been avoided with better management of the situation there is a strong undertone of wrongdoing that I'm sure Oprah wants no part of.

Good point guest, I think it would take someone courageous to let the truth finally be told about this nasty injury. The other thing that crosses my mind, is the good old money and power issues. Sometimes it is surprising to see who owns parts of companies, newspapers, news stations, etc. I think this plays into issues sometimes as well. Doctors have power, money, influence and have been very wise in organizing and planning strategies to put them in favorable eyes. There has to be some talk show host out there who has the courage to do a show specifically on this injury. IT IS TIME, especially with all the focus that has been given to these poor ob/gyn doctors. Our side of the story remains essentially untold and that is a crying shame.

its been so long since i've been here.. about the Oprah show, why doesnt every one get tickets to be on the show, i believe each person is allowed up to 4 tickets.. then there is the Dr Phil show, if you go to his web site,www.Drphil.com they have a message board on infants & toddlers, one of the headings there is "havng a baby has changed my life" every one get posting about BPI and how having a baby with it has changed your life, if enough post there someone will take note of it... just a thought.. :)

The Dr. Phil show is about him counseling people so it would have to be more about helping yourself emotionally to get through the fact that your baby was injured. Oprah is more about learning about what is going on in the world, yk?

This is just my opinion though.

this is true, although half the people on this board are dealing with emotional issues concerning their child with BPI.. and be it Dr Phil talking to someone about their emotional issues and in getting to those issues explaining what BPI is or Oprah who hasnt responded to the many emails talking to BPI families, either way its getting the word out making people aware which is the whole purpose...

just my opinion.. :)

I think it is a great idea, and maybe a few of us brave souls should try to get on the show.....it would be a GREAT way to get the word out there. This injury is emotionally devastating and most of us would benefit from addressing the rare emotions involved in having the very people you trust to care for your child, being the very people who hurt your precious child for life. Also, we deal with constant reminders throughout the day of our child's injury/disability which takes a true toll, and many of us probably suffer from some post traumatic stress disorder as well. It is REALLY tough. People have no idea about this injury and what it puts us all through on a daily basis.

I sent an email to Oprah show back in Oct 2003 concerning BPI awareness. I haven't received a phone call or email and I am right here in Chicago!
