Hi Lisa,
He has two small inscisions on the top of his shoulder more posteriorly toward the back. They are about 1-2 inches long. They look great. Steri's are still in place but should be coming off soon.

Allison, this is great news! So he was unable to supinate before? Is this because of internal rotation? The more I read about this surgery the more facinating it becomes! You guys are getting results for your kids that I never in my wildest dreams thought my son would have!

Hugs,

Kari,
Prior to this surgery Bradley was not able to supinate. It was due to the severe internal rotation he had, as well as a posterior dislocation. He always looked like he was holding a trumpet in his hands (if you can picture that hand-to-mouth movement). He had very little active external rotation. It's so amazing to me to see how symetrical his shoulders look. This happened immediately after surgery. When they took the temporary splint off, it was like I knew right away this was a good thing. I took him into the PT's office yesterday and they were amazed. Believe me I had to justify to them my reasoning for every surgery he had. It became very frustrating. Yesterday the look on their faces was worth a thousand words. I pray he continues to supinate and his humerus stays in place. So far so good though!
