Tim:
Sorry for my tardy response but I did want to comment on the tippy canoe crew. Actually you and Ralph looked pretty stable going out while the gals looked a little shaky. Like you said, they were struggling to keep a straight course and eventually did pretty well especially to get back to the dock dry. Thinking more about that scene, it's a wonder that the BPI sisters didn't continue to go around in a big circle! Maybe having Kathleen in the middle helped to keep everything stabilized and on course. Who knows? You and Ralph on the other hand – well you've explained how it happened. Marlene and I heard a plaintive yell (was that you Tim?) and saw bodies in the water standing, thank goodness, with cameras in the air. I thought about "toasted cameras" too.

But back to your theory. Sounds logical to me particularly about canoe #3. It definitely looked like the tipsiest of them all - only the boat house crew would know that. Also, the waves were coming in broadside and it wouldn't have taken a very big boat to create a wave big enough to tip over a canoe. Even a row boat might have been enough.

Hope you enjoy your new camera.

John,

Thanks for your keen observance. You know, Nancy's been talking for a couple of months about getting a new camera. Do you suppose that she really planned it all along just to get the new camera? We went out last Friday and got the new camera. Saturday, for the heck of it, I turned on the old camera and it worked perfectly! Great timing.

Well, this possibility does alter my theory a bit. I did not see a sea monster, but Kathleen did say that Ralph thought it was "Nessie". So maybe Ralph saw "George" and of course it only takes one to tip a canoe.

This easily fits into my conspiracy theory and in fact makes it even more plausible. Someone on shore was operating the ropes and pulleys and just waiting for Ralph and I to be in position for "George" to surface. Now, who could that be? Perhaps it was Francine. She admits that she was at the boat house. Why didn't she get any pictures? Could she have been too busy working the rope?

Peggy also admits being at the boat house. On the camp photo web page, you can see the picture she took of both canoes. What was she doing only minutes later? Hmmmm, the plot thickens.

And the plot gets even thicker....

because the night before, I had washed some personal articles of clothing and hung them out on the clothes line that was near my window. In the morning the clothes line and pulleys were gone and my undies were on the awning two stories below!!

it must have been the butler in the library with the candlestick...

any more CLUES ?

Francine,

This is so funny, as you said who knows who did it and where.
