Tim:
Sorry for my tardy response but I did want to comment on the tippy canoe crew. Actually you and Ralph looked pretty stable going out while the gals looked a little shaky. Like you said, they were struggling to keep a straight course and eventually did pretty well especially to get back to the dock dry. Thinking more about that scene, it's a wonder that the BPI sisters didn't continue to go around in a big circle! Maybe having Kathleen in the middle helped to keep everything stabilized and on course. Who knows? You and Ralph on the other hand – well you've explained how it happened. Marlene and I heard a plaintive yell (was that you Tim?) and saw bodies in the water standing, thank goodness, with cameras in the air. I thought about "toasted cameras" too.
But back to your theory. Sounds logical to me particularly about canoe #3. It definitely looked like the tipsiest of them all - only the boat house crew would know that. Also, the waves were coming in broadside and it wouldn't have taken a very big boat to create a wave big enough to tip over a canoe. Even a row boat might have been enough.
Hope you enjoy your new camera.
