I am almost 40 and still can't hook my bra! I have to hook in the front and turn it around. Maybe that is to much information- Sorry- pregnancy hormones in full swing!

No pregnancy hormones here and I felt like sharing the same thing. I have always hooked my bra in the front and turned it around, my entire life. No bpi injury, just the natural, easy way that I have always done it. Had to giggle at myself since I never really realized anyone did it any differently. Just seems too tricky and difficult to do it the other way.

I am almost 12 years post injury. I still have trouble dressing myself. There are days it is just horrible. While I find it frustrating there are times I do have to ask for help. I was just so happy when I was able to pull my pants up by myself! LOL Forget pantyhose. They are a nightmare!

As for the bra, Francine is right. You hook it in the front and turn it around. The front hook do help with posture so that is nice as well. Now when she gets married she can have her husband help her take it off! I must admit that is one of the perks of the injury! LOL LOL

Pantyhose are a horible nightmare!! I agree with that too!!! So you just wear clothes that don't need them!!! Bras are a challenge too!! I hook mine and then throw it over my head like a sports bra! Works for me!

I will say that you need to let the kids do as much as they can themselves, it's very important that they get as independent as possible at a young age. Help them when they need it, but se what they can do. I am 2 years post injury and 23 yrs old and when I am at home my mom still tries to help! I just have to say, "Mom I am a big girl now, BACK OFF!" She just laughs at me! Good luck all!!

Katie is a little over 3 and all the 2 years in her other class are way ahead of her on dressing. Her teachers kept telling me she could take her own pants off but at home she could not. One day I got off early and stopped in and sure enough--she had her pants down--but a younger classmate was helping her! She didn't like that and tries harder now but is still far far behind. One thing that is helping however is in her early potty trained state (we are about 3 months out) she still has accidents and I notice she can do alot more when she wants those wet clothes off than just regular times! hang in there, our kids may do it later and differently but they will eventually figure out a way to get what they want.

All kids are really different. My son is 4 1/2 ROBPI and has been dresssing and undressing about 2 years. He has no use for clothes....would rather be running around in his underwear.....it's difficult keeping clothes on. He has mastered putting on his shoes and tying them....for about 6 -7 months and has even mastered the buttons on his pants. however, he likes his jeans bigger and prefers a belt so that the button is easier to get to. If they are too tight he can't do the button ! My Daughter not BPI just barely dressed herself at 5.....she still has problems with zippers.

Well she doesn't have enough grip to grasp or function to pull so I have always thought she would have to do sport bras or over the head. But Some clothes need nice bras if you know what I mean. Anyway, tina don't worry , all us big busted people in my family hook in the front and turn them around. Maybe by then she will have more function, I'm praying!!!!!!
