on 12/10/03 I was injured in a on the job accident. The local ER told me I pulled a muscle in my back and to return to work. I was in more pain than I ever thought possible so I went to my regular M.D. who immeadiately diagnosed a possible spinal cord injury. After a normal work up ( mri etc) I recieved a discectomy that was supposed to releave the pressure on my nerve root ganglia that was causing the pain. The operation did absolutely nothing and I was told it would take 9 mo. to a year for the nerve to heal if it was ever going to heal. It didnt. After a year my MD told me there was nothing more he could do except lots of drugs. I was taking 28 pills a day. Vicodin 10 etc. I found a pain clinic in St. Louis that started me on massive shots to reduce muscle contraction along my spine but that didnt help much or very long. They finally decided I was a good canidate for a spinal stimulation implant and put a trial one in. It was fantastic, it reduced my pain approx. 80%. I couldnt believe it and I didnt want them to remove it but they had to so they could put a permanate one in. On 9/14/05 they put it in but it did not work as well as the temporary one, just my luck. It did reduce my pain about 60% and I am still on some pain meds but Im very happy with it any way. They tell me my battery will need to be replaced approx. every 18 months, thats not bad. If I had it to do over again I definately would. My company fired me and took away my benefits and workers comp is a joke and refuses everything but I will have my day in court. If you have any other questions just holler. DO NOT GIVE UP I attempted suicide twice because I couldnt take the pain but they helped me and I think I can make it now. Sincerly John
