Hello Tom,

I am left TBPI but here are the reasons I wear a brace. A wrist and hand brace offers me support so I can use my hand a little better. It also offers my wrist and hand a break which helps with the swelling and pain.

I also tend to wear a brace when I am in a group of people. That way I don't have to worry about someone bumping into me or slapping me on the shoulder. Kind of works as a buffer for me.

I have a cast like brace that goes from my wrist to my shoulder that I wear sometimes at night. Like all braces that I have dealt with at night this one is not comfortable either. However, there are times I need to imbolize my arm. It does help.

I am sure there are other reasons I wear a brace but honestly none are coming to me right now!
