When we stayed at the holiday inn a year ago it was so gross. We where on the 3rd floor, With the mosque. that part was fine but the curry smell was awful. The mosque Cooks? with it all the time. We brought a Pack and play crib for my youngest daughter. When we got back i had to spray it with frabrezz and have it on the back patio to air out. For WEEKS it smelled! The room was very dirty and smelly. Plus the night we got there Jade had finilly gotten to sleep. I went in the bathroom and the toliet didn't work at all. We called down to front desk. They said the we could use the one in the lobby. I was not going to use the one in the lobby.I paid for a room WITH a bathroom.so they said somewill would come a fix it. Well the Cook, yes the cook form downstairs came up to fix it .It was fixed a little bit later. I NEVER saw him wash hands befor or afterwards. I will never stay at a holiday INn again becouse it. The only good part was the driver of the bus ( he was really nice) And being so close to TCH

WE have stayed at the Crown Plaza and the Residence Inn. The Residence is a little further from TCH, but I always had a second child with me so it didn't matter...one parent was always at the hotel and the Residence has a kitchen....stove, fridge and dishwasher sooooo...the parent that was at the hotel could cook and bring me real home cooked food..that way I knew their hands we're clean....LOL
I liked the crown because it was right across from TCH and we could walk !!!

We have also stayed in all three of these hotels in the past. My favorite place was Gabrielle's room at Texas Children's Hopital. We loved the new wing when we were there in September. We did keep a room at the hotel for my husband and I to take turns showering and napping. I took the night shifts w/ Gabrielle (because I never sleep anyway) and I was very comfortable. As far as the Hotels I liked the Marriott the best.

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza in January and it was really nice, Scoops is a bit pricey and the food isn't that good, but overall we had a great experience. They will also provide a refrigerator and a crib upon request free of charge. The best part is that we could just walk across the street ( a litte frustrating at first because they were doing a lot of repairs, but once we found the "walkway" it was fine) It was so cold (we are from Phoenix) that I was grateful we didn't have to walk far. We will most likely be back there in July, depending on Ian's video, and we will probably stay there again. I did have to specify that we were there for the BPI Clinic, otherwise the medical rate was like $129.00 or something. Anyway, good place to stay, and down the street a bit was Subway I believe and a Starbucks. Don't know anything about the pool, someone else might know better, but overall it was a good place.

On the other side of the block (the non-Fannin side) is a little Chinese restaurant and a Popeye's chicken. Most people never notice them. And yes, there's a Subway on the Fannin side and a Chipolte (try it--you'll like it), as well as a new Starbucks. A little further down (past the Marriott) is a Millers where you can get great burgers or the Big Cluck. There's a new food court not far away at MD Anderson with a Luther's BBQ and some other good choices. If you want a really nice meal (kinda expensive), try out the Treviso restaurant at the top of that building. The food is excellent--in line with the Redwood Grill, if anyone is familiar with that. Gosh, I must be hungry because all I can talk about is food.

Fran,
We have stayed at Crowne, but the last time we went they were booked so we stayed at the fairly new hotel across the street,.... what is the name of that hotel. Others may be interested in that as well. Gosh I cannot think of the name of that hotel, it is really nice w/ indoor pool and pretty new. Best place to eat to get away from McDonald's is CHIPOTLE across the street from hospital, YUM>
