We just settled after an agonizing day of picking a jury (cleared the room out of about 100 jurors and could only come up with 7 jurors; couldn't even fill the 8th seat.)Nobody wants to be bothered with this stuff! Finally, after 2 full days of litigation, the doctor's insurance company finally came up with the $ we had asked for; nothing astronomical either...it was a reasonable request and they played games with us for three day and finally came up with the amount anyway. My attorney did a fabulous job, by the way, and we thought everything was going well. My attorney was always warning us, however, that you never know what is going through the minds of the jury members...PS.After all was said and done and settlement was finalized, we found out that we probably didn't even have 30% of the jury on our side!!
We knew we were telling the truth, but it isn't about the truth. It's about who is better at convincing the jury; truth or no truth.
