Think Positive! We live about 6 hours away from New York, but we are turning it into our family vacation. You can go online and find many interesting places to visit within driving distance of camp.

We attended the last camp in Colorado, and again, turned it into our family vacation. We spent family time looking through guidebooks etc. We wrote down what interested us and as a family, made an agenda about what to see. We had a fantastic time and were able to do it on a budget because we planned in advance. It was quite a trip (airplane)....and I would have preferred it closer, but it gave us the opportunity to see places that we may not have visited otherwise.

Nice to hear from you! Well, when we conceptualized camp, we promised to move it around a bit, wherever possible, so that the majority of people will have the chance to attend at some point in time. This idea was well received. Also, we heard from many people that while the camp in Colorado was spectacular, the air fares were on the high side, and so flying into Colorado was not cost effective for many people.

Last time, we were asked to consider the east coast and we said we would. It so happens that we found a fabulous campsite in New York, and that's where we're headed this time around. I invision seeing a west coast camp here at some point as well. It will also be refreshing for me to plan a camp in my same time zone for a change! You can't imagine the challenges!

We sure hope you'll consider attending and remember that camp sponsorships will be made available, which will hopefully make it more feasible for families and individuals to attend who meet specific requirements. The Disney idea is great, and it is one that we have considered. My family and I live in Southern California, and Disneyland is one of our favorite places to visit. Hosting a "hotel camp" there would be fun. My family has never been to Disney World on the east coast, and this would be a wonderful option too!

Here I'll give a plug for all of the amusement-like fun in San Diego County that we can consider. We have Legoland, Sea World, and The World Famous San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park, (two different locations, but related to each other).

In addition, when my family and I were visiting Pennsylvania last summer, we toured Hershey, Pennsylvania. I was so excited at the prospect of hosting a camp there one day that I requested the conference information packet on the spot.

What I walked away with was a wonderful packet full of information about hosting a conference. This is the type of information I'm invisioning we would receive if we were to request information for hosting a "Disney Camp" as well.

It would not be a camp, per say, but a conference/hotel experience. We like this idea too!

But, it's important to note that a "hotel camp" would be a completely different experience than going to an "outdoor camp" that includes bonfires under the stars, natural surroundings, outdoor activities, a get-away from the hustle and bustle of city life, and the like.

Also, typically, hotel rates are far more expensive than lodge rates at a camp, such as the YMCA.

One of our main objectives is to make the camp as nice and affordable as possible.

We've also talked about perhaps rotating experiences from camp site to hotel site, to keep things fresh and exciting.

Yup! None other than....

And, it really does smell like chocolate all over that town! It's amazing. At the Hershey Hotel, they give everyone in your party a chocolate bar when you check in at the registration desk! That's just the beginning.

They have an amusement park, and a place called, "Hershey World," a huge gift shop..you can only imagine!!! And, there is a museum, garden, etc. It's a very fun place. But again, no camping, just hotels. Cathy

Our trip to Washington state for a Helping Hands weekend retreat was one of the best vacations we've had. Tricia still talks about playing pool at the lodge! Thanks Peggy! We saw friends in Seattle and Tacoma and then spent the weekend at the retreat in Leavenworth. If the retreat hadn't been in Washington, we New Hampshire folks wouldn't have seen our west coast friends. It seems like we plan our vacations around BP events more often than not now. Ah, Lake George in September, Florida in October. Who knows where we'll be headed next! Disney???

We are going to Disnewyworld in June. We have been there several times. Disney has cabins and tents available that are right next to a pretty lake. It is disney resort. The cabins accomadate like 8 people they also have boardwalk cabins. Then they have the regular bring your tent time of camping too. The cabins and bring your tent are in the same area. So that might be able to work. Perhaps disney would give a break on the pricing.
