Kailyn also got services when she attended a private preshool. They did not pay for the preshool, but provided services at the public school outside of class time. If they had space in their kindergarten, they would have placed Kailyn there. She is now in kindergarten, in the public system, and she continues to get services through the school. If we had chosen to place her in a private shool, she may still have got services but they would not pay for the school, they are not required to. Whether they would have to provide services would be up for debate also. The law "no child left behind" is for public education only, as federal money is for public schools only. You may still get servies if your school provides it, but they are not required by law to provide it. This is very clear in the IDEA statute.
