HI. Marymom, I was wondering if you could email me about your son not having surgery. My son hasn't had surgery yet either. It is a rough decision to make.
My email is debndave@taylorelectric.org.
Thanks and God Bless.

Hi, If you contact TCH by video you send a VHS tape to the brachial Plexus Clinic and they do the evaluation for free. They usually call with the results but you could also call them. I am not sure how the calling thing would work as the number is toll free in the USA but I am sure Dr. Nath's office could help you via
e-mail with the results. Send a letter with the video that includes your questions, phone and e-mail. My child has little movement until 9 weeks. Shoulder shrugging and hand movement only- the hand was tipped back (waiter's tip) and the arm was flat down although we thought we saw little elbow bending but we were never sure until 9 weeks. I pray your child has wonderful recovery too! The address I have for the video is BPI CLINIC 6621 Fannin St Houston TX 77030 telephone 1-800-364-5437 ex3290 also 1-731-770-3290. Ask any questions and I will happy to help. Best wishes! Carole

I realized did not answer all your questions - sorry. To do the video you take about 6 minutes of the baby with the shirt off. We sent our first one at 3 months- that's when they want to see the movements. My baby was in the bouncy seat and on the bed for the video. Do it whenever your child has the most movement- if any. My daughter did more when just waking up- otherd do the video with the baby in a tub with soemone helping. By 3 months my child had elbow bending and hand to mouth but hand went no higher than mouth now she can go all the way up but that came about 9 months- it was slow with lots of exercises to build those muscles. Hope this helps! Carole

My daughter is 16 months and has had no surgeries. She did not move her arm until 3 months. She was classified as severe but then the movement came (hand to mouth) and her primary surgery was cancelled at TCH. We still take her in for evaluations but last time, Dr. Nath asked "Which arm is injured?" What great news for us. She just recently started brushing her hair with her left bpi arm which is wonderful to see. I wish you the best of luck.
