I'm with you. I can use my shoulder, and can flex my elbow up, but not down. Other than that, I have no use whatsoever of mywrist or hand or fingers. I'm a true one-hander, and I too, was surprised to see so many people with some use of their arms and hands.

Have you met any other OBPI/adults yet?
I was so shocked to see the how much and how little use some of us have. I grew up with a boy who had no use at all of his arm and it never grew... I lived near him for a short time... wish he could find this board. I knew we both had the same injury because everyone always talked about the difference betweeen our arms.

No, Kath, I haven't met any OBPI adults yet. I was told about a picnic in San Diego, which was close enough to Los Angeles where I live, but then I found out it was really aimed at kids. I'd love to meet someone in person.

Carolyn...
Glad I'm not alone when it comes to the no-usage!! Some people talk about playing instruments and things, and unless I become more flexible to use my feet, that isn't happenin'!!!
I too have never met a fellow OBPI'er. I hope to someday.
Take care,

I am bi-lateral, so my use of my arms is probably a lot different then most of you, and at the same time the same
I can use both my hands, and am considered right handed even tho I do the majority of things with my left. I cannot turn my right wrist up (getting change is a bear) and cannot OF COURSE touch the back of my head with my right. In fact I am barely able to lift it without assistance from my left. So I am with Caroly.........if I want to play an instrument I better get practicing with my feet
Both my arms are very weak and have limited rom, but what the hell.it's never stopped me doing anything

Can you turn either palm up... I shove everything into my right arm... hand ... arm pit... let it hang then get my change with the left hand...
Can you get change at all? if not maybe you better make sure when you go to the store you just spend all your money... darn I hate when I have shop till I drop... and spend all my cash...

Hi Kath
I am so sorry to have read that you brock your arm. I hope you are doing ok. Did the doctors say that your funtions will return to the same as before the break? How did you break it? I here it does happen to people with BPI I know it happened to me.
Wishing you a very fast recovery
Frank

Plastic is definetly the right choice! I need a stamp with my signature on it for two reasons: 1) I get tired of writing my name since I charge WAY too much crap and 2) The damn receipt always moves around and I can't hold it down w/ my right arm!! Sometimes I just scribble it and say "The hell with it!" Maybe I should legally change my name to ____________. It'd be much easier to draw a line on a fidgity receipt.
Have a great weekend!

Soooooo maybe..... this is why I hate anyone to watch me sign my name...
Penmanship... was the hardest subject in school for me ... along with spelling...
Wish they had computers when I was young... and ones with spell check... love my spell check... do you think its only those who write with bpi hand that are poor spellers?
ryan... do you hear us... LOL..
