Same thing with us. All the stuff you guys described. Mine is 3 1/2 yo now. She is beginning to ask me to do something for her pain when it strikes and I am at a loss... Any suggestions? I've taken her to pain "specialists" who have seen her at appointment times which don't coincide with her episodes of pain. "The child seems fine..." (Oh, don't even get me started!!) Now that she's getting older and can communicate and process info differently (and describe more clearly), I'm also noticing behavioral issues related to this.

I can't even begin to describe how pissed-off I am about every single thing related to this whole ordeal! From a mother's standpoint, social standpoint(a sense of personal-responsibility seems to be lacking in this day and age), medical, legal and...

Unnecessary hell.

i know this topic is about childrens fever, but i have had my injury for 8 months. the past 2 or 3 months, i have had no pain meds because the pain is not that bad any more. oh i still have pain, but not bad enough for meds. last week, i went through several ordeals that were extremely stressful. my arm hurts so bad i have been taking pain meds again. i think stress does make it worse. whether you were born with this as a birth defect or as a trauma as an adult.

jmar, just to correct this: a birth injury is NOT a birth defect. This is a very specific thing and should not be confused as such.

Yes, stress, illness, other injury can all increase pain. As can weather changes and when girls are older menstruation.

When her arm hurts you can try applying pressure to it, this helps me and I know others have said so too..

sorry marieke. i have so many people in my family with birth defects (lesch-nyhan syndrome, heart defects, etc), i just automatically say birth defects. i am well aware of this being an injury. it is just very common for me to talk about birth defects. sorry. as a matter of fact, my nephew just passed away this past week from lesch-nyhan syndrome. i am extremely saddened by the loss of this wonderful man. his funeral was yesterday. so, yes i have been discussing birth defects a lot lately. sorry for the rambling. i am just upset right now.
