speech therapy and bpi
Re: speech therapy and bpi
Dawn, in my opinion, it sounds like based on your example that Ryan's responses are pretty normal. However, there may be things that the PT is seeing that do indicate a need for ST. Whatever the case, if it were me, I would want to be sure. How about if the PT brings an EI ST with her sometime when she comes? Maybe it will just be a matter of a ST giving you some ideas of things to work on yourselves. On the other hand, if after doing an eval, a ST recommends that you add that therapy, now would be a good time to findout (before Ryan is 3 y.o. and is turned over to the school system for therapy svcs.). So, even though based on your ex., it would seem that Ryan prob. doesn't need ST, I would prob. just have an eval. done informally during PT anyway -- just for peace of mind, etc. Look at the bright side, sometimes it's hard to get svcs that our children need. In this case, it sounds like if he does need svcs that they will provide them for him. Whatever they recommend as a result of the eval, it's still up to you if you choose to accept/decline the therapy. Keep us updated please. Take care. -Tina
