Logans dad,
There is a wonderful video of a baby's recovery posted by Johnstrike. Just search Femke and it should come up. Keep in mind this is a recovery of one baby, each injury is different and each recovery is different. But, this is a wonderful video account of her recovery. It may give you an idea of what to be watching for.

I watched this video...pretty neat. The very beginning was very much like my son. It just goes to show you that all those "timelines" like bicep before this age and so on, aren't always true. You should always keep hope and keep working with your child. It actually brought tears to my eyes...

I would consult with a Neurosurgeon along with the Ortho. Ask the Neuro if he can feel the biceps firing at all.

DO NOT STOP THE ROMS!!!

Hi there,

I'm so sorry that your son had been injured. You are definitely in the right place for information and support...this place has been amazing!
to answer your question about whether or not you are overreacting....personally I feel that you can't overreact with these injuries.....time IS of the essence in getting treatment.I think you are doing everything you can do...the ROM is so important...Cassidy is 20 ,months old and we still do it twice a day.
Seeing a BPI specialist is essential in getting your son the proper treatment. Unfortunately a lot of doctors have no idea what a BPI is or how it works.
My daughter Cassidy seems to have a similar injury to your son...or at least have the same nerves affected.
My daughter Cassidy had wrist movement and hand movement right from birth...but never had wrist extension, bicep or deltoid use. At about eight weeks was when we saw her fist improvements...they were slight but you could tell she was moving her arm more.
Cassidy did eventually require surgery, she has two ruptured nerves (definitely and C6) and her C7 was avulsed (pulled from the spinal column)
Cassidy had the nerve graph surgery almost a year ago and she has had some great recovery....we are still waiting on the hand to mouth movement which will or will not happen. So in the mean time we do PT with her daily and as well as formally with her therapist every two weeks. If you want to discuss this more feel free to email me and I can give you the million details I left out due to time and space :)
again I am so sorry that this has happened to your little guy....we are all parents who understand what your going through....ask as many questions as you can, research this injury, know as much as you can about it.
If I had followed the advice of the pediatricians or the pediatric neurologist...Cassidy would have had very little chance of any recovery.
best of luck in your journey...
