Hi Sue~
I am remembering from back about 4 years they did an x-ray and it showed my shoulder being dislocated but it doesn't hurt me, yet. I am a bit older now and as gravity continues to set in I know the pain will worsen over time. I am going to wait it out since I just had 4 surgeries in 7 months up @ Mayo. I need a break for now. Plus I have 4 children, a house, a husband and pets to care for. Good luck with Dustin. The doctors at Mayo have come a VERY long way since my injury. They can do so much more. Keep us posted.

Thank you Sue for the exercises. Some of them I do already in the pool, The snow angel move, even lying down stops half way,ie. I cant do a full circle but 2 semi ones, but any strengthening around there is probably good. Basically I think my lats which was inserted in my shoulder has stretched and loosened the stability I had. Anyhow, hopefully it will stabilize at some level, it must do as people are walking around swinging heavy arms on very little or no shoulder muscle with only partial subluxtions. Sorry to answer an earlier question my injury is c5 c6 from a traumtic shoulder injury 4 years ago, they are not sure if avulsed, but same symptoms in any event.

Hi, Aurelia. Reading along with your questions about shoulders.

I'm about 3 months post-surgery -- sural nerve harvesting. My injury happened in Dec 2006, and I'm like ptefarm's Dustin and you, it seems -- C5, 6 and 7 perhaps not avulsed, but really, really pissed off at me.

The shoulder was subluxated before surgery and would hurt quite a bit if I left it out of the sling. It behaved and seemed to suck back up into the shoulder after surgery, but now it's drooping and hurting again.

Thanks to all for the exercises. Will have to do something about this as time goes by and I wait to see what the sural nerve surgery did.

Cheers,
Audee

it was really tight after surgery and was great even if the mobility was restricted for a while, but then the mobility came back (to what it was pre-operation not pre-injury) and the looseness happened too. It just feels like it is falling off, I dont wear a sling, I have full C7 though which helps, my c5/c6 is missing. Its not painful just uncomfortable. The subluction feels worse than what it was pre-operation, in fact I dont think i had any pre-operation
