Thanks Mica, I never mind when a parent answers too!
I have had an emg before when I was about 7 years old and I can tolerate it but am debating if it is worth missing my college classes for since I dont see my doctor again until the 22nd of this month and I start class on the 4th of September. I would miss two classes whatever day of the week we picked.
I think I am leaning towards having it done. Thanks to every one who responded!

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: 28 years old with a right obstetrical brachial plexus injury. 5 surgeries to date with pretty decent results. Last surgery resolved years of pain in my right arm however, I am beginning my journey with overuse in my left arm

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

I have had two emg's in my robpi arm... ugh!
I have had two in my left so called "unaffected arm" ...
I have also had emg's in both legs due to spinal stenosis.
The emg's in my arm hurt and my arm is a little painful for a week or two after I have one.
But... I am glad I had it done. I had no way of knowing the full extent of my injury until they did the first emg.
It was when I had my first cervical mri and then a bpi mri that they discovered the bright white spot in my spinal cord. Until that time no one knew the full extent of my injury but having Horner's they knew it was a serious one.
When I was young the test was so painful my mother did not have one. They knew the babies were not surviving surgery and that was not an option for my parents.
I am glad I have full knowledge of my own personal injury.
Think about it and then remember if you could go through all the surgery this test will be a piece of cake.
I think your one brave girl having all the surgery and then doing all the work necessary to make the surgery a success.

I think I am going to ask my doctor when i see him on the 22nd if I can have the EMG done. it wasnt that bad the first time so it wont kill me to do it again and I really want to know if getting pronation with out surgery is even an option. I am starting to get frustrated with not having any pronation for as hard as I am trying to get it. And you are right, if I can do 5 bpi surgeries what an EMG. So I will as Dr. Moran for the EMG when I see him in two weeks. I want to know! I am tired of not knowing. And if I cant get pronation with out surgery, I need to do the surgewry sooner rather than later.
