I just had a long conversation with Courtney, and her spirits are GREAT. She is just amazing (but we already knew that, didn't we?) Even with the transfer failure, Courtney is still highly impressed with Mayo and said the care shown her by the doctors and nursing staff has been fabulous - beyond the call of duty. Dr Shin said this is the first transfer failure since they modified their procedures based on what he learned during his study with prominent bpi surgeons in Asia on his fellowship in 2005. Staph infections can and do just "happen" but MAN I hate it happened to our Courtney.

She is now done with surgery & expects to go home Saturday. There are some outside sutures that will be cared for locally. She will continue with antibiotics another two weeks.

Shelley is amazing, too. She told me last night she planned to send a card & plant to the Mayo team, thanking them for their hard work. What a wonderful gesture.

I spoke to Courtney this afternoon and she said they plan on releasing her Friday! She seemed in good spirits and said to tell everyone hi. She has had 7 surgerys. This last one was to remove the vac tube. She has been thru a lot.......

ONe more time, thanks to everyone who is so concerned about Courtney. I am so excited...today is the first big step...over to the Staybridge Suites where her dad and I stayed, for one more night, some good rest and making sure she's feeling well. Tomorrow they go to the airport. Plz pray for a safe trip and travel mercies..or meditate or think or whatever is your way of being compassionate...it all means the world to us....she sounds good and I can't wait to see her...poor Jeff has been going nuts also...Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, winter break...whatever it is you celebrate.....have a great one and enjoy..lets all get some rest in preparation of a new year ahead of us so one more time, we're on our toes, doing what we're supposed to be doing....................
