Frankie is 13 he had a severe LBPI no movement or feeling at all.At 2 months old he had a neurolisis at NYU then at 11 months had the primary at TCH with Dr Laurent he got some feeling could shrug his shoulder and bring his arm up to his chin. This all took 2 years with pt/ot 5 days a week and me doing TENS 3xs a day 7 days a week plus play therapy then at 2 he had a tendon transfer to the wrist at TCH with Dr Sheaque (probably spelt wrong) this worked great he could really move his fingers but when the cast came off 6 weeks later the fingers stopped moving and the wrist dropped at 5yrs old Dr Sheaque wanted to do the mod quad but said they didn't think he would get more then 10% more movement and Frankie wanted no part of it I remember him asking the doctor what good it would do to reach his arm up in the air if the hand couldn't do anything when it got there. So for the past 8 yrs he has mastered doing everything one handed and might I say there is not one thing he can't do and do well he is an amazment to all that know him. But now at 13 he wants to try to fix his arm he feels maybe there have been some new advances and Dr Nath felt there was so much he could do for Frankie he feels he can even get some function in the hand so thats our story Mod Quad at 13 and waiting to see the results I just didn't know what to expect when the splint came off although Dr Nath wants him to continue wearing a different splint 24/7 for a while longer he feels he's not stretched enough. So we WAIT and HOPE and PRAY Mare

Mare,
Eventually you may get a variation of a 2-ARMED Hug, ANY attempt no matter how clumsy qualifies as a bonafide "Special BPI-er's HUG". Even that one armed hugg is great from Frankie, I just bet.

My hello to Frankie/Dave too.

...& HUGS all around of course!,
