Oh, and here's a tip you may have thought of so that you don't get your cast wet. I used gutting gloves. Lovely though I know, but they were great. Those things are so long and you can use your fingers which is better than a bag or something. Then I would use big rubber bands at the top so no water went down in. It's best not to go beyond that point just in case, but heck they are long enough to make it almost to your arm pit.

Just a quick thought I had for you. Good luck!!!

Edina,
I'm so sorry to hear that. I have not broken my good arm yet however, it scares me to even think about it. I hope you have someone who can help you out until you get your strength back. I also hope you have a speedy recovery. *HUGS* hang in there.

Frustrating, huh ? I've broken my right (good) arm twice and the right wrist once last summer. I was fortunate that my Dad is an orthopeadic surgeon. We splinted the wrist last summer so I could move it slightly but not enough to cause damage. It was not a bad break - they called it an avulsion fracture where the ligament or tendon pulls off a piece of the bone. With the broken arms it was the radial head that broke both times. Normally, he would cast up to the shoulder but I could not completely immobilize the arm. Fortunately, the joints swell, it prevents you from moving that limb. He monitored my breaks pretty closely - They all healed fine - just had to be real careful not get bumped, overuse them or driving. I car pooled to work.

Brushing teeth and brushing hair was the most difficult - I would hold the brush as best I could and kind of maneuver my head around the brush. eating-wise, I just ate of the plate... Unfortunately, I have no tricks to offer - just maybe look into a splint that provides some movement and just be careful not to over do it. My dad always came up with splints and things that would allow some movement sdo I could eat and be independent.

I cracked my left wrist 8 weeks ago on my bad arm. That healed but took forever.

I wish you a very quick and complete heal. Stay active - Broken bones are just speed bumps that remind us to be a little more careful.
