Hi everyone,
Sorry didn't get back sooner.I downloaded a copy of the ssa revision to send to my caseworker when I first seen it on the forums.I called him immediatly and asked him if he had the updated guidlines for tbpi and disability,(he said that he had never seen it and was not made aware of any changes in policy). I asked him if he would like me to fax it over to him because it may be important regarding my situation. He explained to me that he could not use that as refernce and he would review thier policy and pull up the information himself.
That was the last conversation made about the new ssa changes regarding tbpi.
Not long after that I recieved my denial letter.
I'm going to reapply but as I said the amount of time it will take makes it of no use to me.
Thank you all for your help.It is not falling on deaf ears.I've been watching, learning, and doing most of the things I have read on these forums since I joined. The more info you guys give me the better. There is a way,I just havn't tapped into it yet.I did have our gov. Sonny Perdue wright me back.He said he was re-submitting my info to the D.H.R. So we'll see if that speeds up the process any.Thaks guys and gals.
Marshall

Have you tried social services? I know Dustin qualified for SSI do to his TBI (traumatic brain injury). We had to take guardianship as he could not make intelligent dicisions. This involved the social services, who then put him in for medicaide. But, because he lives at home he receives less. Last week we also had an appointment with the DVR (division of vocational rehabilitation). I can't give any suggestions on how to get the SSI with a bpi as his was due to the tbi, but maybe try some of these other resources. Hopefully they can help you get somewhere with this. DVR does job training, they also have some money for school. We are waiting to hear back to see what level he is at DVR. Level 1 gets help right away, level 2 has a 3 mo waiting list. Sorry, can't be of more help.
