The space center is great, get a local map, I think itis south of downtown, but, not far. It keep the kids busy for a long time. You can take a tour also which is pretty long.

Space Center isn't downtown, it is near NASA which is southeast of downtown. You could take a cab, but it is about 20 miles from downtown. There is a city bus system here, so you could use that too.

We don't actually live in Houston, we live just south of Houston. DH worked at NASA til he quit a month ago for a new position in MN. I am still here with our 5 kids trying to sell the house.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I really appreciate it!
I found the website for the aquarium and they said that they had rides? Is that true? I went to downtownaquarium.com and went to the houston website.

From the hospital you will take 45 south to NASA about 30 miles, and continue south on 45 to get to Galveston, about 50 miles from Hospital. Downtown Aquarium does have a few rides outside in an amusement park type setting, there is a ticket booth where you buy tickets to ride a ferris wheel, carousel and something else..... It is only a few miles from the hospital. If you are going to Katy Mills Mall, about 30 miles West of the Hospital on I10, there you can eat at the Rainforest Cafe. There is ice skating at the Galleria Mall just a few miles from Hospital, there is also the Cheesecake Factory Restraunt, YUMMY! Six Flags is no longer an option, as it is gone. Kemah Boardwalk is an option to, south on 45 headed towards Galveston, about 35 miles from Hospital. They have lots of shops and restraunts along the waterfront.
