I think (actually, I hope...) that Nancy and the other directors of UBPN have talked to the UK Erb's Palsy group about how they have reduced the incidence of OBPI here in the U.K.
It can be done, believe me, by a softly softly approach. They have proved it.
I think I am right in saying that there is a report somewhere by paediatricians here that states the percentages of children seen with an OBPI has reduced by 1%, but I'm not sure over how many years, but if it's over 1 or 10, I am absolutely certain that this is a direct result of the efforts of Karen and the Erb's Palsy group.
Their approach to getting at the heart and facts of why these injuries happen at birth has been very non-confrontational, and has had great results.
I hope Karen will post and add a bit, or correct me if I've gone a bit awry with the percentages.
