I am OBPI and when I found UBPN I ran to the computer every 5 minutes to see if someone was out there like me.
I found a bunch of tbpi and obpi adults who responded and that was a great help.
We had the same injury but it was different just as our pain is there but different.
As adults we were not given support until we found these message boards.
Support and a warm welcome is so important to people who finally find us and a place where others know the answers to their many questions.
Welcome Aloah I hope you get the information you need and I know you will get the support that is just as important to your healing.
Kath (robpi/adult)

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

Re: Hello ?
Are you happy with yourself ? Do you look in the mirror everyday and say " I'm so proud of myself " ?
or
are you just that ignorant ?
Please think before you write.

Re: Hello ?
I've found the Internet to be VERY SLOW and UNCOOPERATIVE lately. I don't know if it's my ISP or the overload on the net or what, but it has been very trying, as of late.
I do appreciate everyone who gives supportive input on these boards--all of these boards.
For those of you who give flippant remarks (and even if they are in jest)...think before you post.

Re: Hello ?
kd's daddy... please be respectfull of our wishes here! You are just being rude and there really is no need for that here, is there? This board is for "This board is for adults and teens to discuss issues relating to BPI caused from a Trauma injury (TBPI)." This does not mean that others are not wlecome here HOWEVER if there is something that yo uare uncomfotable with, you need not read this board as it does not pertain to you directly.
All that I ask is that you respect us as we do the same on the gen board.
Thanks...

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: January 1980 Yamaha RD200 vs 16 wheeler truck, result, 1 totally paralysed right arm. I was 21, now 54. I had no surgery, I don't regret this. Decided to totally ignore limitations (easily done aged 21) adapted very quickly to one handed life, got married, had 3 kids, worked- the effect of the injury on my life (once the pain stopped being constant) was minimal and now, aged 54, I very rarely even think of it, unless I bash it or it gets cold, then I wish I'd had it amputated :) Except for a steering knob on my car, I have no adaptations to help with life, mainly because I honestly don't think of myself as disabled and the only thing I can't do is peel potatoes, which is definitely a good thing.
Re: Hello ?
I am just wondering, how would you feel if kd saw what you have written here to someone with a bpi injury? How would you feel if someone was as rude as this to kd on a support message board? As Court says, have some respect.
Shame on you
