Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: January 1980 Yamaha RD200 vs 16 wheeler truck, result, 1 totally paralysed right arm. I was 21, now 54. I had no surgery, I don't regret this. Decided to totally ignore limitations (easily done aged 21) adapted very quickly to one handed life, got married, had 3 kids, worked- the effect of the injury on my life (once the pain stopped being constant) was minimal and now, aged 54, I very rarely even think of it, unless I bash it or it gets cold, then I wish I'd had it amputated :) Except for a steering knob on my car, I have no adaptations to help with life, mainly because I honestly don't think of myself as disabled and the only thing I can't do is peel potatoes, which is definitely a good thing.

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

I have to agree. Chatting is a good break from the daily buzz. Brittney is a great girl. I hope that Javier grows up to have the same outlook and spirit that she has. So far- he does. lol It was funny at first- I thought I had come to chat on the wrong night because I was the only BPI-parent. Oh well, I still love you guys. lol Plus, I get lots of outlook on how I can maybe make things better for Javier in the future. Thanks.

Amy, sad thing is I have 2 classes, but had 1 nursing class test, 1 bio lab test, the final for bio and the final for nursing as well as a practical exam for nursing all in the space of 10 days! So it was all compressed back to back... I still feel as if I have to do readings/homework now!!! And we've been told that we are to do readings/prep work for the coming semester once the teachers put our book list online!!
Ah well, the life of a student... :)

I dont really have that many classes either, but like high school they seem to save all the big assignment for last and then there are final. I only have three finals total so no big deal I have taken one already one is tomarrow and one more Tuesday. Then I am done until January 17th when classes start again. I totally understand "the life of a student"
