Re: Dr. Nath...Good and bad?
Great to hear you looking for info but as the replys state...you must research on your own and talk with others while remembering that even though there are the same "titled" injuries, each one is different from the other in many, many ways. My daughter had Dr Nath and I can't say enough about what he did for her tbpi, especially after the specialist we had seen before him said she may as well cut it off and move on with life. The things she's able to do now are phenominal. It's just like anything else-you do the research and decide on your own. You will always find things with drs that you personally don't care for, as they are people just as we are, but what you have to weigh is what you want them to do for "you" and can they?.....Bottom line! Good luck with decision making. It's not easy but well worth the research....Shelley

Re: Dr. Nath...Good and bad?
Just wanted to give you a little bit of information. My son had surgery on 10 28 05 with Dr. Nath. We had feelings as well after we had the surgery scheduled. We looked him up on The Texas medical boardsite .sitehttp://reg.tsbme.state.tx.us/OnLineVerif/Phys_ReportVerif.asp?ID_NUM=447928&Type=LP
You can read about my sons surgery on Dr. Naths home page, Click onto Dr Naths web logs and go to 10 28 05.
There is even a picture of the nerve transfer. His injury was that of the c5 c6.
We were kinda in the same shoes, we had no clue where to go for help as we were not getting answers here.

Re: Dr. Nath...Good and bad?
I replied to this message a few weeks ago, but my message seemed to disappear...dr.nath my child went to him and he suggested surgery straight out without even taking a indepth medical history. We left his office not feeling comfortable at all, felt he was way too quick to suggest surgery on a patient he did now enough about his history. although I will say his office staff was excellent and Dr.nath makes himself readily available to his patients. We ended up taking my child to a top nyc orothopedic doctor who referred him to another world renowned doctor and strongly advised us to stay away from Dr.Nath.
Re: Dr. Nath...Good and bad?
Shelley...please please excuse me and correct me if I'm wrong, but did Court always have use of her hand almost from the start? I know that you will probably think that is irrelevant, but I think it's really important to state a few details of each persons injury when answering an enquiry like this, it saves confusion and giving (maybe) false hope.
I don't mean to offend anyone here by saying this, but many people who are newly injured assume that their injury is the same as practically everyone elses, and that the same sort of sugery with the same surgeon even will get the same results.
Also, I thought Court was considering futher surgery to innervate her bicep because she isn't happy with the results she has seen from previous surgery from Nath. Please, as I say excuse me if I have the wrong end of the stick over this. All I know is that recently she was asking about pec transfers. Just wanted to say to the original poster please research your options thoroughly.
Apologies if I have upset anyone... 'speshally Court (my yankee daughter!) and Shelly...but sometimes this way of communicating can be totally misinterpreted and you both know I wouldn't deliberatly upset either of you for the world.

Re: Dr. Nath...Good and bad?
Hey Liz, I will answer for my mom as she probly isnt reading today, she is sick!!
I had my first op, NOT with Nath! This op gave me some stability with my shoulder and MORE individual finger movement. My hand started coming back aorund 7 or 8 months before surgery. In the begining NOTHING at all in the arm anywhere! I am greatful for what I have in my arm. THe op I had with Nath, he gave me no gaurentees for great biceps. We were just trying for something! I got something but not what I wanted! I want to bend my arm! I cant do that yet. Yes I am looking in to further surgery.
I think Nath is brilliant is so many ways and will continue to think so... he is NOT for everyone, but what doc really is...
I agree with you Liz, we dont want to give false hope and you have not offended me in the least here! I am sure not my mom either!
Hope this helps to clarify mum! Cheers!
