Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.

My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!

I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".
There is NO SUCH THING AS A DUMB QUESTION.

I have ment to post on this thread for days now and every time I do I get carried away with emotional chit-chat. So I will try to kkep this short..lol I went to camp with my Daughter, Megan(9lobpi), 2 years ago for the first time. It was a magical, life-changing trip. The Silver Lake area was just beautiful. The BOD and other volunteers had everything so planned out to the very detail. I was very impressed. I had a lot of fun, I learned so much, I felt remotivated, and like I wasn't alone. I know it had a tremendous effect on my Daughter. Megan loved Camp. We cant stress how much we apprechiate UBPN and what they do for us. I feel very lucky to be attending Camp again this year. I'm very excited to see what is in store for us. They had so many little surprises last time! Sandi
PS> It is amazing to see the kids together.

I will be a first time camper! I am very excited to meet some one like me face to face as I have only ever seen a baby who was sleeping before. I am nervous to be going this alone but I can not wait!

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

You won't be alone... you are in the adult bpi club and you already know the secret handshake... LOL.
After camp you will need a rest from all the meeting and greeting.
Can't wait to meet you

Kath,
I know that we have our club and secret hand shake, lol. Mostly I am nervous about my flights, This is all one big first for me, I have never flown before and never been to a camp before and certainly never been that far from home. I will be living in my dorm and for the first month we are not allowed to come home on weekends so I can't even see my family before or after camp, so It will be very nerve wrecking for me. (going to hide under my ever faithful rock, lol j/k) But really I am very nervous yet extremely excited to finally put some names to faces. I can't wait to see you in person!
Hugs,
Amy
