Re: surgery info. please
do you have a bpi or someone in your family? Brandon is healing good. He is right handed and has movement in the left but he is very weak and has no fine motor skills. He can pick up big items like empty pop cans. The Neurontin has helped a lot with the burning pain that makes his arm feel as if its on fire. Then he takes stronger meds that are for night, but we still have not had a full nights sleep. any luck? Thanks Stacey

Hi Stacey, my name is Michael I had my accident in May this year and had surgery 4th August. I avulved 4of the 5 nerves. I only have slight shoulder movement, but that's it. No feeling in my arm or able to move any of it. I am right bpi and yes this was my dominant arm. I am now learning to write with my left hand and am doing everything with my left arm. I totally relate to your son. I am only 19 years of age myself (nearly 20, birthday 1st March)
The pain is a killer, and am on meds to try and help. Personally I believe like everyone else on these boards says, everyone is different and it takes time to get your head around this injury. Your son will get there, just give him time. You will get a lot of great information from the people here. If your son ever wants to talk about anything at all get him to email me. I will make one suggestion to you and that is my mum got me started on hydro therapy a couple of months ago. I go three days a week. It is a great way to exercise my bpi arm and has helped me meet a lot of very interesting people (many worse off then me with injuries). I try and also swim in my pool as well. Take care Stacey and give Brandon my best wishes........regards Michael
