Hi everyone,
Thanks so much for all of the responses, what great advice!
I have already bought Evan clothes for when we come home that are 2 sizes too big and even a coat that he will be able to wear when he is bigger.
I will bring a small suitcase that has extra room in it for the extra foam for the splint, I didn't know that.
Thanks again, it has been a tremendous help!
Peggy

Matthew had primary surgery at TCH when he was 6.5 months old. We bought our pump and found the milk bank at TCH to be an inconvenience. It was located in another section of the hospital and was only open during certain hours. There were never any supplies (empty bottles in the room). I bought my pump because Matthew never nursed because of phrenic nerve damage and we drove down. We normally bought everything we thought we would need. It was much more convenient that way - we didn't need to wait for anyone to come back with anything.

I've never been to TCH, so I don't know how the milk bank works down there, but here's my personal suggestions.
Take a couple playtex nursing bottles along (make sure your child will use them before taking them as some children prefer one type of bottle over others). Then all you have to store are the disposable inserts. I found some at Walmart that had a ziploc type of closure that also stood up (they were by Gerber and were only a few pennies more). This way, you cut down on supplies to bring and you can label the breastmilk with your child's name easily and store it in the unit's refridgerator.
Good luck!
