One of the busses flipped today 15 minutes from my home..my brother sent out this email and we are all asking for your prayers. (He is a detective)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
just had a wreck occur here with refugees. Opelousas Police Dept. along with My office and the state police are working a flipped over bus carrying 40-50 refugees. The driver says that a argument was occurring on the bus then a passenger came to the front and had words with him then HE PULLED THE WHEEL AND CAUSED IT TO FLIP ON THE INTERSTATE. So far one dead but sure to have more, (hope not) There were three NEW BORNS hurt.
PLEASE KEEP THIS STATE IN YOUR PRAYERS!
Mandie,
where are you, again? Prayers going out! I saw this on the news, but have been on the phone (endlessly) and haven't been to the message boards much today.
Those poor people don't need anymore tragedy to deal with. It's so heartbreaking to me; honelsty, I can't begin to express my devestation...
- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.
I am praying for all of those who have been impacted by this terrible disaster.
Just want to remind everyone to pray for the volunteers and rescue works who are under so much pressure trying to help. It must be so hard to see all of those people in need and not have the supplies to help everyone.
Our family is praying for all affected by the devastation caused by Katrina. My oldest son's high school has raised over $3,000 so far. Tuesday morning as I dropped off my son at school the children gathered around the flagpole holding hands in prayer people left their cars on the roadways joining them, it still brings tears to my eyes. God give the volunteers and rescue workers the strength they will need to help all through this. God Bless.
I had some good news this morning, one of my very dear friend's, E. J. Phillips called a friend in Fort Wayne this morning to tell him that he is alive and in Fort Worth!
His mother, brother and nephew got on a bus before Katrina hit for Mississippi and I don't know their status--neither does he.
I'm glad he's alive! I will continue to search for those I still have no word on and continue to pray for all affected by Katrina... the devestated, the ill, the lost and all those working so hard to bring comfort and aide to the victims.
God Bless everyone affected..from the people of the area to the whole USA. I am having trouble taking it all in. It is so large, the devestation and destruction. We still haven't heard from my cousin, I heard that she was leaving before the storm, but we haven't heard from her yet. I have been taking bags of blankets, clothes, etc..to all the local shelters for the last few days. We have quite a few refugees around our area in the churches. They need so much and they are thankful for so little. My kids are getting new children in there schools daily. I've talked to them a lot about this, so that they understand. We live so close to the Gulf of Mexico, and this could so easily have been us. My whole life the people around here have been talking about the big one. Guessing what it would be like, and I tell you, I dont think many could have quessed it would be anything like this. Thanks for listning and God bless!
I truly believe in the power of prayer. It has gotten my family through some rough times, and I know it will help all of those involved in this terrible disaster. Keep the prayer lines open! God Bless all of you who have friends and family involved this tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with you all!
