Doctor says it could be RSD

Post by tracy1972 »

Hello everyone. Thanks to Court's post on TBPI board(RSD & BPI) and the wonderful support/information from many people on this site, I am finally getting some answers. I went to GP today. I showed him all the research my family had done on obpi, overuse, and how many similarities between symptoms and RSD(Court has a website on above mentioned post that has info on it). He told me he thought it very well could be RSD and is currently trying to find a bpi specialists or a RSD specialists. He wants me to try a different med. for nerve pain---Depakote---I have been on so many different meds. because of "this nagging pain". Problem is I have had severe reaction to four of them. Had excessive weight gain from the last one neuro. took me off and the rest of them have made me so loopy I don't know what planet I'm on(but does help with pain)!! He says if I have a reaction to this one, we will try anti-depressants(that's just peachy)!!! He also said PT a must. He even told me he would help me get paperwork on lowering some of the bills I have aquired since losing my insurance and future appts. O HAPPY DAY!!!! I wanted to just reach over and give him a big kiss!!! I thought my mom was going to!! haha
There have just been soooo many unknown/unanswered questions for sooo many years, hearing that we may be on to something was an absolute blessing!! As if that wasn't exciting enough,I have my birth records and records all the way up to 18 yrs. There are several pain complaints listed at different ages that my ped. listed as strains or sprains. Very interesting. I just wanted to give you all an update and to thank you again for the much needed info. and support. You are all truly wonderful.

P.S. Court thanks for sharing your info. on the board. It was an answer to my prayers.

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

How good to hear. I am glad you have your medical records that is amazing and all the help he offered it great. It sounds like he is getting interested now.

Why don't you write to Nancy and see if she can send you some back issues of Outreach so you can share them with him. I did this with my doctors and they have been much more supportive of my needs... sometimes they just roll their eyes but I don't care as long as I can get PT and medical care I need to preserve my arms and legs now.

I was told to lose weight for my spinal problems because I had gained some. I count calories to do it because nothing else worked. I drink my water and walk on the treadmill every morning even though it is painful because my legs still have not recovered from the Zocor combined with the spinal stenosis.
