Summer Sun

Post by cbe411 »

I have never been one to wear sunscreen, even with the BPI! Summer has FINALLY come to Michigan and I hit the beach yesterday! It was GREAT! Usually burns dont bother my BPI too much but WOW! Last night was miserable! The pain in my hand brought tears to my eyes on a few different occasions! My boyfriend just rubbed it for me which helped some but not as much as I would have liked. This is the first time I have ever experienced pain from a slight burn to the shoulders, it is NICE AND TAN TODAY!!

Be careful in the sun!!!!!!

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

I was so full of sympathy for your sunburn... I felt so bad as I was reading... wondering what you could do to relieve the pain...
That was UNTIL I read you TANNED! Wow that is amazing... however our bpi arms do burn and we don't always feel it...
I can't feel when it is burning and have gotten some really bad burns before I noticed it.
I think that maybe a good sign that you felt the burn...
I am glad it is better today but please be careful.

Aloe gel, Aloe gel, Aloe gel!!! LOL

Banana Boat makes a great one. It is in the same section as sunscreens and such. I got a nice tan on my shoulders last week, as for my legs... that's a different story. LOL

Also- Noxzema soothes hot skin.
Have a great summer
