SSI Denial

Post by GAmom »

I have a question, is it really worth it to struggle with all that paper work that the SSA puts you thru just for SSI. My son has been denied three times. Our next step is to get a laywer. Is it really worth it? Does he really need it? All the denial paperwork say over and over is that he is not considered disabled under their rules. I just want to know if it was worth it. I am beginning to wonder. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.

My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!

I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".

GAMOM,
YES it is worth going through every paper, form, denial, appeal and getting a lawyer who knows SSA denial/Appeals process. It will mean that your child can get the services and assistence at every stage of his developement and life. OBPI has Lifetime Care medical/physical issues. He may even evenually qualify for SSDisability Benefits and that process will be much easier,or may even be come an automatic switch-over later in life when your child is all ready on SSI.
It Is worth everything to do now. Keep coming back here for questions and support. There is another Topic thread about SS Benefits on both message boards too.
