Jade has always had a great scapula and back for being BPI. Well today it all changed! as soon as she got in the pool the pt and i both saw a horible thing. her scapula changed alomst onver night. It moved into herarmpit plus it is wigning REALLY bad. there has been not trama to her since the last time i looked at it. it was so bad i started crying. her pt is very versed in BPis and she has no idea on what happend.she is also holding to the side more.what do i do. who do i need for her to see. what kind of dr.

I just wanted to say how sorry I am to hear your news. I can only imagine how upset you are. How scarry that such a change can happen so fast. I wish I had some advice for you. Of course, there is always the TCH Team. You know we see a PM&R Doc. at UCD, who really has a strong understanding of the scapula and has really worked with Emily on stregthening hers. He works with a lot of adults with sports injuries. Maybe seeking an Ortho or PM&R with that type of background could give you some specific guidelines to work with. What is a PM&R Doc? My son has an obvious scapular winging issue too. We saw a local orthopedic doctor, he did not suggest us doing anything.

crystal, this is spokey marlin had almost the same thing happen to her several weeks ago. i looked at her and the scapula winging was really weird it was almost like it fused into the shoulder. just one joint moving together. i talked to lisa davis about it and my neuroligist here we did an exray and sent it to tch so far we have not heard anything back from dr nath about the exray. that is so strange that you are experiencing the same circumstances. i hope that everything will be ok for you. i have heard several possible things that it could be but no one really has given me a definite yet. sharlon

A PM&R Doctor is Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. The one we see specializes in Sports, Spine & Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation. Also when Emily had her EMG at 5 months old, it was performed by a Pediatric PM&R, also at UCD.
