Hello,
My son, who is now 8 months old, is having difficulty achieving some of the physical milestones for his age. He can sit up, but he started late. He is also having difficulty crawling. I was wondering if anyone else had any similar difficulties and if they are related to BPI. Thanks so much!

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

I think it would be hard for some of us to answer about the milestones we made as children. My mother said I never crawled but I walked at 9 months... then again all of my own children were walking on there own fully at 9 months... so I guess OBPI did not hold me back. According to my Mom I walked and talked very eary.

Re: Other difficulties
Hi,
I didn't crawl either. My mother said I rolled. I guess I rolled all over the house. Once I fell asleep under my aunts bed on a trip to West Virginina and they thought I was lost in the hills. I'd forgotten all about that. We Erbies always find a way to adapt and make things work. Pat

Re: Other difficulties
I never crawled either. Mom says I laid on my back and pushed myself around with my feet. I had a HUGE bald spot on the back of my head apparently. She was soooo thankful when I started to walk early (9 months) and my scooting days (and bald ones) were behind me.
Re: Other difficulties
I asked my mother over the weekend if I crawled. She said that I didn't, but my other (non-OBPI) siblings didn't either. We all started walking around 9 months. I guess we had too much to do & didn't want to waste any time!
