- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: January 1980 Yamaha RD200 vs 16 wheeler truck, result, 1 totally paralysed right arm. I was 21, now 54. I had no surgery, I don't regret this. Decided to totally ignore limitations (easily done aged 21) adapted very quickly to one handed life, got married, had 3 kids, worked- the effect of the injury on my life (once the pain stopped being constant) was minimal and now, aged 54, I very rarely even think of it, unless I bash it or it gets cold, then I wish I'd had it amputated :) Except for a steering knob on my car, I have no adaptations to help with life, mainly because I honestly don't think of myself as disabled and the only thing I can't do is peel potatoes, which is definitely a good thing.

Hi Yeti-have you never signed on to this roll call before??? I'll add you in if you haven't, I take it you want your nationality to go down as Scots?!!?
Anyone else, add your details here if you want to be part of this count-I count the nationality, sex and cause of injury and number crunch them all every now and then when I'm bored. Last count can be found on the previous page. Makes interesting reading and it's amzing how many different causes there are, motorbikes are still number one closely followed by car accidents and those good ole doctors who forgot the first part of the Hippocratic oath, "First, do no harm". If we added birth injured people into this roll call (which we don't) then doctors would be far and away the commonest causers of bpi....that's quite a thought....

Hi jill yes i lost all movement and feeling from day one. Have had PT from first week and will attend that until all nerves have regrown. has been 1yr now and have a fair bit of movement but still have a long way to go. Pain on putting shoulder back was a blur as i was given pain relief. Pain when i dislocated was the worst pain. When did you injure your arm? Are you on gabapenton? How much movement do you have? It will be good to compare progress maggie
