neck pain and medication

my son is in the process of getting his results together to get an opinion and find a doctor.we are anxiously awaiting an appt for mayo(they said they would all us)I n the meantime he is having severe neck pain.he cant sleep because he cant get comfortable it is at its worst in bed.he is taking darvocet,aleve ,xtra strength tylenol but its not helping much.the one surgeon we saw said that the pain is not from the BP so he wouldnt prescribe anything else.Ant suggestions ??

Heat and massage help my pain TONS!!! give it a try... also maybe see about sleeping pills for a bit just so that he can get some rest... if you dont get a good nights sleep the pain is worse the next day too!!!

I'd strongly encourage you to see a pain specialist if you haven't already. The pain from this type of injury responds to different medications for different people so you want a doctor who's well experienced so the trial & error process can go pretty fast. So glad you're planning to see the Mayo doctors - we think they're the BEST.
