Least Expensive Hotel in Houston Med Ctr?
Re: Least Expensive Hotel in Houston Med Ctr?
just got an email that the price of the Best Western is UP to $79.... I had in a previous post said that it was $59..rates have gone up since.
Re: Least Expensive Hotel in Houston Med Ctr?
We just stayed at the Best Western Plaza Suites on Old Spanish Trail for 64.00 a night on the Medical rate. We had stayed in January for 59.00. They raised their rate on 2/1/02 to the 64.00, that's unreal if they raised it again so soon. The rooms are nice and large, a small sitting room with a large t.v., then a hallway with the bed/beds and a smaller t.v., a micro & refridge, and a small sink, counter & cupboards. They also have washers and dryers on every other floor and an exercise room.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.
Yes, I think the Ronald McDonald House needs to reserve their rooms for families with life-threatening illnesses. Most of the children staying there are being treated at MD Anderson cancer center and are there for several months. When we stay there we only do so if there are other rooms available for those families and we also request that they let us know if there is a family in need and we will relocate to another hotel. So far this has never happened. It is a wonderful place.

Julie,
We were at the Old Spanish Trail Best Western too! I thought you had plans for the Marriott? Shoot, we were in room 427...
We got the medical rate of $64/night, which was much better than the $119 we paid at the Marriott last year. The continental breakfast was nice, and we had two TV's and a hide-a-bed. Colleen and I were able to go to bed while Ken stayed up late and watched a movie, without disturbing us. It is also clean! A plus for me since I am a major germaphobe. If we ever need to go back, we will stay there again. What a deal!

I forgot to mention that our room also had a video game set up. Might be nice for siblings.

OMG Donna, We were in room 429, right next door! In fact, Emily was in-charge of putting the card in the door and twice she put it in room 427 and tried to open the door. We were seldom at the hotel, but I never saw anyone go in or out of any of the rooms on our floor. I can't believe we were that close and didn't connect, what a missed opportunity.

It's amazing we didn't see each other at least once, my goodness, we were there from Sunday til Thursday. I never once saw any other children. But I wasn't necessarily looking for any since I thought you guys were at the Marriott. I can't believe you were only one room away!
Did you do any fun things while you were there?
