Hi,
Just wondering if anyone who's child has had the Triangle Tilt can give me any feedback on the results they are seeing, if any yet? We are scheduled for this same surgery on May 19th with Dr. Nath.
Thank you in advance!!

Triangle Tilt - Results Yet?
Re: Triangle Tilt - Results Yet?
My 21/2 year old daughter is set for the same surgery on May 17th - Dr. Nath. This will be her 2nd surgery and we are also curious of the outcome. Best of luck on the 19th, maybe we will see you there.

Results from Triangle Tilt - thus far.
Cassidy had the Triangle Tilt on February 10th - she has been out of her "Gunslinger" splint for almost 4 weeks now (still wearing it at night). What I've noticed so far - which isn't much - since many of you know you do loose some function directly after surgery which is only temporary - her arm and hand is in more of a neutral position and she doesn't hold her elbow out so much anymore. She is able to get her palm more supinated that before surgery -not that she is doing ALOT more - because she's not- not yet - but I have hope that she will be able to in the near future!
NOTE FOR SPLINT - This surgery you will get the splint made prior to the actual surgery - usually the day before . . . .or the morning before the appointment with Dr. Nath - make sure to tell the Orthodist (which are VERY VERY nice people) - that they need to reinforce the inside elbow of the splint that is close to the body. It's pretty much just molded so that it's "attached" to the inside of the body - but Cassidy is a stomach sleeper - and she figured out a way to sleep ON the arm. . . .and cracked the inside of the elbow area. Problem with this is - it changes the position of the arm so that you end up closer to the "internal rotation" position which Dr. Nath DOES NOT want after this surgery!

Hi, My son had the triangular tilt on March 3 and has benn out of the splint for about 7 days now, he is doing well, but as Dr Nath will tell you before sugery, there is a chance that there will be some delays. My son isnt moving the arm fully but he definetly doesnt have the internal rotation, when reminded he is able to maintain a more neutral position, but he tends to still bend the arm at the elbow but not winging the way he used too,
My son's splint is also reinforced by the elbow and riveted with a metal bar, so please make sure that they child proof it, then the chance of it cracking lessens--good luck with everything

Hi,
I am curious as to how your children did when the splint came off as far as pain and stiffness. And also, how long do they wear the splint at night only? Thank you.

Re: Triangle Tilt - Results Yet?
When my son first came out of the splint, he was very stiff, I called Dr Nath right away because I wanted to give him the pain medication that Dr Nath prescribed but forgot to before we took off the splint and I wasnt sure how much 2-3 cc's were in dosage(we only had ml or tsps). Dr. Nath suggested that we keep James lying down in the bed or on the couch so that the force of gravity wasnt pulling the arm down and to put him in a warm bath, so we laid him down on his bed and he watched a movie all evening and then when he felt up to it, he took a bath for about 30 mins and just soaked the arm. He was still stiff, but he tolerated the stiffness better then when he first came out of the splint. By the next morning, James was as stiff as the initial desplinting and each day it keeps getting better. Dr Nath first said that James would have to be in the splint at night for 3 months, then when I spoke to him last week, he said to go on James lead in about 8 weeks and see how he is doing.
Good luck with your child.

What is the best type of shirt to bring your child home in after having the triangle tilt? Is a over the head shirt or a button up shirt better? Thanks.

Re: Triangle Tilt - Results Yet?
My son wore button down shirts for school that were 3 sizes bigger than he was used to, we found that if we placed the arm that was splinted in the shirt first and then we placed the other one in, then we buttoned up the shirt as equally and best as possible.
When he went to sleep at night we used my tshirts or my husband's tshirts, they were like dresses for him, but it worked, then we went to target and bought tshirts for $5 that were adult large, cut them to his size in length and that worked as well,
Good luck!
I hope everything goes well.
