Karl- I'll give you an AMEN brother, but only in the non-religous sense. If I had long hair and glasses and wore skirts , they'd be flung off spreading wackiness and bad humor all over this website. It's time to take the gloves (actually glove with no s - you know because we only have one good arm), take the glove off and have a real knock down, potty mouthed , one-armed brawl. I can just imagine it. A chat room full of half-blind, tangled- hair, naked BPI people, wildly swinging at each other with their one good arm looking for the lowest blow while the flail arm flaps irratically in the air. And all the while we'd be laughing our asses off hysterically, because it would be bloody funny to see. And I'll call myself Punchy Sue, but you better call me Susan or I'll clobber you. My right arm is still good and I'm not afraid to hit girls and good thing you took your glasses off or i would break them with my fist. And it's your own stupidity for having long hair. Hair pulling is fair game. Who wants to use a door to put their hair in a pony tail anyways - what a waste of time you silly girly-men. Your father was a hampster and your mother smelt of elderberries. I fart in your general direction.
YOU DISGUST ME
PUNCHY SUE
THAT'S SUSAN TO YOU PIGS

(Jamie, I think we can take her. If you sneak up behind her, and get down on all threes)Susssan...Heh, we were just talking about you. Once again, Susan, you've painted a masterpiece. That picture will be playing in my head all day.
Speaking of masterpieces, Jamie...haven't seen a poem from you for a while. Is it Jack? Could be time to take him behind the wood shed. Okay, chin up guys...Karl...
ps..Susan, loved the bit about the glove. Say, are you right or left, cause I have a spare around here somewhere I'm not using...Jamie, you're right...I've been baaad.

I'm avulsed at T-1 Sue, and though I am not diagnosed with "horners, " I can tell a definite difference in my eye function and pupil size.
I was in a drug induced coma for 3 weeks after my wreck,so did not know the pain. However, as I came out of the coma it took about three weeks for the true neuropathic pain to start hitting home.

Re: Two questions
Karl, yeah I felt the same way about the boards here. It took me ages to pluck up enough courage to actually post something, and when I did and Mikey B, Hazey, Jen and a couple of others actually answered, I was like a puppy with two tails! They, and a few (very few) others were 'real' to me and became more real after we'd had a few chatroom sessions too...blimey, the chatroom too was well scary at first.
Now, after about 4 years, we are all good mates with lots in common apart from the obvious, and with some people from here, I personally feel I have made a lifelong connection with. Since the other TBPI boards were started, I've made very strong connections to others too, and every year that goes by, more come along.
I looove your references to being school marmish on here!! I guess I am...and to a certain extent I feel I have to be. Things have way improved on here since the split in the boards, but not that long ago, in the old days, there was so much confusion, many flame wars, arguments and hurt feelings that a lot of us thought we didn't have a voice on here,...it's the one major reason why the other TBPI boards were started up.
Also, I think our weird peculiarly Brit sense of humour can come across as being a bit harsh and hurtful at times. On here, we do restrain ourselves for fear of inviting negative comments and flaming (which a lot of us have had in the past)...on the other board we don't. This is why I put on the specs and the tweedy skirt (!!?)when posting here...once bitten twice shy as they say!
Also loooove to bits the mental pic that SUSAN has conjured up!! I can now just imagine a mass punch up with flaily arms flying and others trying to get a good punch in...I'd turn up in my 'normal' gear for that one...no glasses or tweedy skirt there...more like biker boots, jacket etc etc with the wicked leather arm/wrist brace that a mate made for me...watch out Susan...your mild flatulence worries me not...! :0)

Re: Two questions
Liz,
I think you've cleared things up a bit for me. As much as I enjoy the conversations I have here, maybe it's time to graduate. I feel myself being pulled to the TBPI site by a force I can't stop (it must be the thought of you in leather). But alas it's the weekend, and I'm off to Las Vegas. "Viva Las Vegas"
"Thank You, Thank you very much...I'd like to do this next song for all the lovely ladies in the audience...Are you lonesome tonight..Are you feeling alright..Tell me dear.." Sorry, got carried away by the King. He wasn't really a King of course. I mean, not like your Royalty. Although he did get to dress up funny also. Gotta rap this up. I think it's time I step up. When I return, I hope to summon all my courage, and post with the big boys (TBPI). Wish me luck. Cheers...Karl...
p.s. Just what you wanted to hear, eh. Hope that doesn't put a damper on your weekend. You know, I think my biggest problem is the accent thing...but I'm gonna work on it. " It's not a tv, it's a tele, and that's not a phone, it's a blower". How's that, better?

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: January 1980 Yamaha RD200 vs 16 wheeler truck, result, 1 totally paralysed right arm. I was 21, now 54. I had no surgery, I don't regret this. Decided to totally ignore limitations (easily done aged 21) adapted very quickly to one handed life, got married, had 3 kids, worked- the effect of the injury on my life (once the pain stopped being constant) was minimal and now, aged 54, I very rarely even think of it, unless I bash it or it gets cold, then I wish I'd had it amputated :) Except for a steering knob on my car, I have no adaptations to help with life, mainly because I honestly don't think of myself as disabled and the only thing I can't do is peel potatoes, which is definitely a good thing.
Re: Two questions
Time to reintroduce the idea of tbpi peeps playing Twister.....such a great mental picture:0)
In my opinion it's very difficult to run a site like this where injured and uninjured people mix. Things are better than they were when injured adults got mail from parents asking them not to use offensive terms like flail arm.....!!! Hey, try HAVING a flail arm! But the tbpi uk site is a haven if I need to post without spending an hour worrying who I might offend, or whether the post I'm responding to is a real person or a plant to advertise some bluddy doctor...
Anyway, tea........Karl, get yourself the proper equipment-teapot, pref earthenware or porcelain, tea strainer, airtight container for tea leaves and the leaves themselves. My preference is for single origin Ceylon tea (not that I'm anal about this or anything...) and let me know, then I'll tell you how I do it. I need to know you're comitted before I divulge the sacred secrets. There are different opinions on how it''s done, but my tea is excellent even tho I do say it myself and I have converted several kiwis.
To be perfectly honest, I know very few people who make tea using leaves and a pot instead of (shudder)tea bags, and that goes for England too. It's a dying art.
In return I'd like to know what it is you're on so I can brew some myself. :0)

Re: Two questions
Jenny,
To be honnest I am just feeling better and better about life in general. So I thought I would try to cast my bread upon the waters. Try to engage others and bring them out of hiding , so to speak. My hope is if I hit the right "spot" (?) it will invite others to open up who might other wise just lurk.
Now, about the the tea. Take me to the top of the mountain Jenny! I hope I'm worthy. This weekend I shall aquire the necessary tools. I must go now and prepare for my journey...Karl...
