I'm not quite your age but I'm 15 and I play soccer. (you can read a little more about it in the other sports thread on here.) I'm from NC obviously and I've also had an injury since birth.

Hi!
I'm just about to turn 17 in the next two months and I'm from Ireland. I try and take part in a lot of things - mainly kickboxing and dance lessons. I just tell the instructors about my arm and they understand. They're really sympathetic and help out where they can. I was even in a few musicals despite the fact I couldn't move my arm like everyone else!! Instead of playing sports like basketball I go swimming or join different types of local groups such as my youth group. We go bowling, canoeing, climbing (all of which I find really difficult) but because i've made so many friends at the clubs most of the people help out when I'm having difficulty doing something. My arm affects almost every sport i play but that doesn't stop me. Just keep trying to do your best but don't hurt yourself. You'll eventaully find something that you can adapt to. It took me a while before I found kickboxing (I had tried every sport imaginable and it was my last option!!)You'll find something that you can work with, don't restrict yourself! Let me know how you get on!

Hi, my name's Mike. 22, from Rhode Island. Not quite your age but just wanted to post. This is my first time on the site. I have LOBP. Never heard that before, I always just called it Erb's Palsy. I never looked up info on it before or met anyone like me, so this is interesting. If anyone wants to chat, my e-mail is mwebster21@hotmail.com (I have msn messenger, and AIM @ mwebster21).

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.

My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!

I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".

I'm not a member so I don't think my email address will show up. If you want to write me back it is Budgie814@comcast.net
