OT and PT in Houston

Hi,

It looks like we will be moving to Houston within the next couple of months due to my husband's job. My biggest concern with a quick move is finding the right therapists and care for Evan, ROPBPI, who just turned 2 years old as of Thursday. I would love to hear from parents in Houston re: OT's, PT's and Water Therapists.

What type of benefits/services does TX have for children with BPI? Right now Evan is getting PT and OT through California Children's Services.

Having gone throught a relocation only one and a half years ago and really struggling to find decent therapists, I am hoping we can have a smoother transition this time. If anyone has some info they can share I would appreciate it.

I take Dillon to TCH for therapy. We live in Sugar Land and we go to their clinic in Sugar Land, they have several in the area. Kirtsen is Dillon's OT and she is GREAT! Their are a few people I have met that do aqua therapy at a local pool here in Sugar Land as well. We are not currently doing that because my husband's job keeps him gone on 6 week rotations.

We see Dr Nath for his injury and WE LOVE HIM!

If you need phone numbers, directions, ANYTHING. Just let me know. We moved here about 3 years ago and I really enjoy living here, I think you will like it.

You didn't mention where you were moving in Texas, but we have a new BPI support group here in North Texas (Dallas/Fort Worth and surrounding area). Our first picnic last year was really well-attended, and everybody is very friendly. We'd love to meet you if you and your family move into this area!

You are soooo lucky. My son had PT and OT at TCH and wow....what big strides he made. We would even catch Dr. Nath peeking around the corner to check on him. Good luck ,.

We do have a support group here in Houston. Actually the Presdient of the group lives here in Sugar Land like me. I have not met anyone yet actually but have talked to a few WONDERFUL people on the phone and gotten GREAT info and help that way. I haven't spoken to anyone since before Christmas because I work at Toys R Us and it is just now getting slow enough for me to breathe. I am the district coordinator so I went straight from Christmas rush to inventory for 5 stores.

there's a new research project from tokyo showing it's wrong to do PT and OT, specially before surgery but also in the first 4/5 months after surgery. i'll add up the link.
