thank you
Thankyou to everyone who replyed to my plea for help. I just got informed that a Dr. McKinnon in St,Louis is willing to do surgery and a Dr. Spinner in Rochester Mayo Clinic is willing to try. We know that all the nerves were completely avulsed because she had surgery 9 hours after her accident to (they thought) just to repair her artery. They went in and found a train wreck. They took pictures and everything to show which nerves were ripped from the spine. She has been in ICU to recover from all her other injuries and did not realize that she also paralyzed her diaphragm until they tried to wean her from the ventilator (too many other injuries to go into)and now they are working at getting her strong enough to travel. (we live in Alaska) so any where we go it is going to require a long plane ride. Thank you and any other advice would be most appreciated.
Re: thank you
That's good you're getting some response. Dr. Spinner at Mayo is the neurologist, & he works with Dr. Bishop (hand specialist) & Dr. Shin (ortho).
I've heard good things about Dr. McKinnon. Once difference is that her background is plastic surgery as opposed to neurosurgery - but both specialties have a lot of experience in microsurgery.
Keep us posted.
