I need answers
Im post three years of accident.Injuries were broken clavicle& Bpi.The clavicle was repaired and was told the nerves are near normal.Questions I have are:why would my skin turn real red after a hot shower(just in the injury area)? Also.......I been in PT 3 years and I have decent range. The problem is no real notiabe strenth coming. The Pts say that I may never get any more strenth.Anyone no any answers to these? Please respond.

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: January 1980 Yamaha RD200 vs 16 wheeler truck, result, 1 totally paralysed right arm. I was 21, now 54. I had no surgery, I don't regret this. Decided to totally ignore limitations (easily done aged 21) adapted very quickly to one handed life, got married, had 3 kids, worked- the effect of the injury on my life (once the pain stopped being constant) was minimal and now, aged 54, I very rarely even think of it, unless I bash it or it gets cold, then I wish I'd had it amputated :) Except for a steering knob on my car, I have no adaptations to help with life, mainly because I honestly don't think of myself as disabled and the only thing I can't do is peel potatoes, which is definitely a good thing.
Re: I need answers
If the nerves are near normal, and are firing into the various muscles, it may be that you need to do some physiotherapy targeting specific muscles that may need increase in strength. Does your PT know much about bpi? I know that increasing the strength does take a very long time. Maybe someone who has been through this stage will reply and share their experience.
As far as the red skin goes-I have no idea! Probably some form of scarring from the surgery I'd say or from the original injury, check with the doc if you're worried.
Hope this helps a bit
