Do I understand right that they don't cast/splint adults after the Mod Quad like they do kids? Why is it different?

They splint children in the statue of liberty position, adults are splinted using a pillow "abduction splint". I believe that it is done this way for adults because the affected arm has been at the side for so long that the arm/nerves/tendons need to be stretched gradually.
Re: Post Mod Quad update - Suzy
Yes, the pillow splint allows you to be stretched slowly - for example I have been in it 24/7 for 3 weeks as of today at about 70* and now will only wear it a night for the next 6 weeks but they will put more and more wedges under my arm to further "crank" it open to a higher position. The nerves and other soft tissues including blood vessels etc have to grow or be stretched to support the new movement away from your side. My arm has some numness for a few days but is now fine and I can't wait for the crankin' to begin!

Suzy...did you call me before you had surgery? I can't remember the ladies name. I spoke to a woman in December about the mod quad. Dr Nath was performing it in January. If it was you, I am so glad that every thing turned out great!!

Yes, I was the one who called you - I tried to send you an email at the address attached to your name and it wouldn't go through - is there a better address I should try? Suzy
