What kind of questions ar you looking for? Really fun stuff like: why doesn't my arm work? or something a little more creative like--how are the Brachial Plexus nerves constructed and routed?
How about what is the mechanism for the ongoing neuropathic pain, and just what is "neuropathic" pain anyway?
What resources are avialable to help me return to work/school.
What are some ways to handle manual tasks?
How about driving? Any assitive devices?

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: January 1980 Yamaha RD200 vs 16 wheeler truck, result, 1 totally paralysed right arm. I was 21, now 54. I had no surgery, I don't regret this. Decided to totally ignore limitations (easily done aged 21) adapted very quickly to one handed life, got married, had 3 kids, worked- the effect of the injury on my life (once the pain stopped being constant) was minimal and now, aged 54, I very rarely even think of it, unless I bash it or it gets cold, then I wish I'd had it amputated :) Except for a steering knob on my car, I have no adaptations to help with life, mainly because I honestly don't think of myself as disabled and the only thing I can't do is peel potatoes, which is definitely a good thing.

Hi Court
When we started the tbpi uk site we saw a need for FAQs. We realised that we were not equipped to answer technical and detailed medical questions-at the time the validity of support group websites was being questioned by doctors, some of whom said that because information was sketchy and too generalised on some sites (bearing in mind the huge differences in our injuries) that false hopes were given in some cases, and hope was taken away in others. I still find sites telling me that a few tendon transfers will fix me up (hahahahahaaaaaa) or even worse, that if my arm doesn't get surgery and recover my life will be terrible (HAHAHAHAAAAAAA!!!!!!) I have researched enough to know that for me that isn't true at all but newbies can be very badly misled by sites like that-if I'd been told either of those things early on in my injury I don't think I would have adjusted as well as I have. For that reason we avoided any specific treatment questions , and referred people to their own doctor.
We still needed FAQ's and noticed that the same questions were constantly asked on this site and on the UK message board too. So we asked people their views on this, took samples of their answers nd made our FAQ page. The bad news is, the link to it is broken (Lizzy when are you home???) the good news is, here is the original thread with ALL the answers we got. You could maybe try something similar????? Hope this helps, anyway, but give me a shout if you need any help with this :0)

Hi Court, here's an FAQ from the UK TBPI meets....

"where's the bar??!!" ;O)

But seriously, there is a wealth of FAQ's and answers on the EZ board site, enough for some ideas?
