Thinking about getting married....
Thinking about getting married....
My accident happened 6 yrs ago. Ive been with the same guy for 8 yrs who was in the accident with me. I was the designated driver and sadly I got the worst of it. Now my right arm is scarred and my hand is floppy. All of the blood goes to my hand and it turns purple. I want to get married but Im afraid Ill be the bride of Frankenstein. You are supposed to feel beautiful on your wedding day and feel that I wont. Any advice or suggestions to help me get through this? Its killing me that I feel this way and let my complex run my life. Thanks to all.

get married!!!!!
Re: Thinking about getting married....
It's obvious the guy loves you! He must think you are beautiful and I'm sure you are...inside and out! Your arm and hand do not define all of who you are; it's merely a fraction!
If you are still self-sonscious about how you will look on your wedding day, get a shall, pagmina (sp?) or something to drape over your arm/hand.
Enjoy life...don't hide from it!

I'll bring the champaigne!
What time should we be there?
i.e. as Nike says "Just Do It" - with bells on (I added that part)

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

I will be married 40 years this year... Our arms do not define us. An OBPI said not so long ago its a filter... You have been together 8 years I think that is longer then most marriages today. Go for it enjoy your life and don't ever let your arm cause you to miss out on the joys you deserve.
Wishing you years of love... and you will be a beautiful bride. I wore long sleeves and made sure my husband held my elbow for all the photos. Now forty year later I think how silly of me...

Tina.
Please don't let your hand stop you from having & enjoying the wedding you have always planned on! People seldom notice the Bride's hands.
There are some wedding dresses that look good when complimented with those lacy gloves. I don't know if that is the case with what you have in mind or not. Just a thought if it would make you more comfortable.
Congratulations!

Tina,
By all mean a wedding is in order and please don't worry about your arm/hand. You will be a beautiful bride, because it is what is inside your heart that counts.
Be happy and enjoy your very special day.
Congrats to you both,
Hugs, Karen

TINA.... GET MARRIED!! Like eveyrone else said, you can get long sleeves, or strapless with gloves, it looks really nice! The spagetti straps you could even do, just have the BPI side shortened, I am assuming the shoulder hangs lower... There is so much that can be done, get married girl! i know a BPI chic from the UK that jjust got married before Christmas and her pictures were great..... ILl send ya one.... she was a beautiful bride!! You will be too! I Am sure of it!

My wedding gown was adjusted to fit my body. One arm thinner, shorter, slop in the shoulder, my rib cage is smaller ... I forgot about until a few years ago I lent my gown to a fashion show -- My daughter put it on and realized that said they made it wrong because she had trouble getting into the right side... we both began to laugh because she realize it was because of my arm... she managed to wear it and I was thrilled to see her in it... so you go for it don't change your dreams because your arm is injured.
