Merry Xmas!

Post by lizzyb »

From downunder!

Made it to New Zealand after a week of hail and rain in Sydney, oh and hot sunshine too...!!

Just thought I'd pop in and wish all a happy Xmas to those who celebrate it. We intend to have our xmas dinner on the decking outside Neil's brothers house which will make a very pleasant change from shivering at home in front of a fire watching the rain lashing down which is what we are more used to!

We'll be off to see Jen after the new year, then back to Ozzie later in January...any chance of meeting up with any of you Ozzie TBPI's?? We'll be in Cairns for a few days, then back to Sydney..let me know via email if you'd like to meet up with us..email is liz@tbpi-group.org...tata for now

Wow Liz you certainly get about! New Zealand indeed.. it's odds on for a white Christmas here (UK) this year which sort of makes up for it being freezing cold. I'm sure you'll think of us as you're sat in the sunshine eating your turkey ;O)
Give Jen a big hug from me when you meet her!
And for all those who celebrate it, wishing you a VERY happy Christmas and a great new year!

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

Liz and Neil have a great trip. I am sure you will have a great time in NZ say hi to jenny for me. Enjoy the warm weather.

I'll think of you here in freezing NY State. We had our first snowfall this morning and the roads are icy. I feel like a shut in... LOL.. I HATE cold weather and so does my arm... LOL...

Dave enjoy the snow it is better than freezing rain and prettier.

Merry Christmas to everyone and a healthy, happy and safe New Year.

Happy Holidays to all!
We will be cold and foggy here in WA State. No snow for us, either, unless we go up in the mountains to find it!

Have safe travels and wonderful holidays!

Liz,
I'm jealous...your quite the jet-setter. I hope you have a blast seeing Jenny and Neil. Next you'll have to come to sunny southern California...won't see much rain here. To be honest I wish I was in Sydney. It must be grand. Update us when you get home. In the mean time, Happy Holidays to all our friends in the UK. And Happy holidays to the rest of us bpi peeps stuck in the here states...Karl....

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: January 1980 Yamaha RD200 vs 16 wheeler truck, result, 1 totally paralysed right arm. I was 21, now 54. I had no surgery, I don't regret this. Decided to totally ignore limitations (easily done aged 21) adapted very quickly to one handed life, got married, had 3 kids, worked- the effect of the injury on my life (once the pain stopped being constant) was minimal and now, aged 54, I very rarely even think of it, unless I bash it or it gets cold, then I wish I'd had it amputated :) Except for a steering knob on my car, I have no adaptations to help with life, mainly because I honestly don't think of myself as disabled and the only thing I can't do is peel potatoes, which is definitely a good thing.

Hot sun in NZ? Not in my bit.....just completed a 2 hour treasure hunt with 20 kids on horses and ponies, I am DRENCHED!!!! It's all my fault, I say every year that Christmas is just wrong in the hot sun, and this year I got my wish....yuk!
Hope it's a bit better in the North Island Liz, and see you in the New Year.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS one and all whatever the weather:0)
